The Music composed by Ilaiyaraaja is doing something in me. His music creates many intentions and moods, but, finally, it insists me to give up something unnecessary in me. Though some kind of materialism is there in most of his compositions, finally, the materialism is scrapped from the inner-self by his music. I may put simply that his music purifies the soul.
His 3 in 1 piece, though not melocholy, made me to shed tears. Similarly DHAM DHAM DHAM, has cleaned the soul.
Thiruvasagam in Symphonic Oratoria form has made me to realise the presence of Almighty in and around me. The vibrations created when I hum the pieces are taking my mind to divine feelings.
How to Name It?, Nothing But Wind! and, The Music Messiah have many things but finally end up for peace.

During a staff room hot discussion, I learnt that when we utter any word in any language, for instance GOD, can be modulated to mean DOG, or DOG can be modulated to mean GOD. the frequency, pitch changes, volume changes are important for communication rather than the literal meaning of the words. Music for universal communication.
My Ilaiyaraaja, always used to say "Nothing is Stable" in this world and "everything is nothing". He says "Music is elevated from ground level, once when it is elevated it becomes frequency, when it is all frequency, there is no difference in music like East and West."
To my surprise one of my students, 'Gayathri A', at her 20 years realised the same and asked me "have you started seeing the emptiness in everything?". People speak of great things but in reality, the core is empty.
My PG classmate "Yuvaraj", used to ask me "Why people have complicated the simple life GOD has given us?". This Yuvuraj is another Ilaiyaraaja fan.
Suddenly, one day a thought came to my mind on true unity of the Earth. Based on big bang theory, i.e. from the Sun all planets came, from planet Earth all life forms came, I thought TRUE UNITY is possible only when all species go back to soil (Earth) and Earth goes back to The Sun.

What Ilaiyaraaja has created new in Music is a new HARMONY! His Knowledge on many forms of music is so great that makes him to declare music cannot be classified.
Here, I would like to write on his Ochestration.. You can not find this kind of great grand and rich orchestration anywhere in the world. This I state here not to put him on top of all composers. Rather I would like to express the uniqueness of his orchestration.
His orchestration has given his music the fine expressive quality. But for an average person like me it takes 15 years of great exposure to his music to understand many many finest things in his music. (I don't have any technical knowledge of music.) Then imagine what is needed for exotic communities, though, the basic nature of emotions are same all over the universe.
If his music gets proper exposure to the world communities, you can't find any buildings for Information Technology (in India especially). All such buildings would have turned up as recording studios.
He has done 800 movies. If you fix the average no of songs per movies as 4, you will find 3200 songs apart from his great re-recording pieces. If you fix average length of re-recording pieces per movie as 1hr, you have 800hrs of music.
He is the first Asian to compose movements for a symphonic orchestra. It was named "Grand Symphony no:1 from Ilaiyaraaja". It was played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London, under the baton of the legend "John Scotts".
His music is very much analogous to GAIA hypothesis. His music is composed of all the elements & expresses itself as a single entity and unites all people who listen to it. If all people listen to his music, they will give up the differences among them and will work for universal peace.
Will grow further!

The Gaia Hypothesis proposes that our planet functions as a single organism that maintains conditions necessary for its survival. The truly startling component of the Gaia hypothesis is the idea that the Earth is a single living entity with the capacity of self regulation.
